Week ending - July 6, 2007
Sorry for the long delay in posts - the last two weeks have been extremely busy - here is a quick update:
- Trip to Boston was fantastic, great panel with Marc from Yahoo!
- Opened 11 new headcount at Userplane, including: senior graphic designer, application designer, Flex developer, CSS developer, Ad network manager, Ad Sales, Project Manager, Secretary, and a few others!
- Adopted the iPhone, generally feel it is a upgrade from a phone, downgrade from a Blackberry, but a doable experience
- Hit a peak of 75M daily ad units this week - and growing
- Picked up numerous new Facebook developers to use our monetization platform (Userplane Money!)
- Began the diversification of product management and development within Userplane
- Enjoyed my daughter and wife on the 4th

(Page 1)2. Well - the blackberry has faster email checking (push) and it handles large volumes of contacts better. I have 6000 contacts in my exchange account - the iPhone does do searching when typing an email - but with each letter I push it takes 3-4 seconds to query the results. The iPhone does NOT do searching in the call interface - which means finding a number to call takes scrolling - which takes forever.
Also the bberry's quick keys means I can see more data faster - like - while driving : ) Which the iPhone I cant quite do as fast.
The iPhone also does not delete messages out of my inbox - which is probably an error - but everyone is having it. That prevents a certain level of usability in its current state. That should be fixed soon I would guess.
I think in general the iPhone takes 3-4 times as long to do most tasks than the Blackberry - but it is a more enjoyable experience : )

Just because San Jose can't have all the fun. A small web 2.0 group has formed in Los Angeles. We are looking for interested CEO's that are actually in the web 2.0 world. If you want in - drop me a note.

1. I was skeptical of the iphone as another *hohum* cell phone not worth the hype, but damn, I think it's amazing. They thought of so many details that I find as flaws on many other phones. It's literally a multi media center. Mail, music, movies, web browsing and more...
"Downgrade from a BlackBerry" - curious to know what you use your BlackBerry for the most and in what way(s) the iPhone doesn't stack up.
